About Alix

From a very young age, I dreamed of owning my own business. But like many dreams, mine had to be put on hold as life took me down a very different path early on.

I picked up a tennis racket at the age of 3, and by 8, I was traveling around the country playing in tournaments. At 11, I left my home and family in Rochester, NY and moved to Florida to train full time. I spent five years at the prestigious Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton before heading to the University of Arizona to play collegiate tennis. In 1993, after winning the NCAA Division 1 Doubles title, I turned pro and began traveling the world, competing in tournaments like the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open. Tennis gave me the chance to meet incredible people, see amazing places, and experience different cultures.

Eventually, I returned to Rochester where I met my husband, Murray. We married in 1997, moved to California in 1998, and settled in Chicago by 2003. We now have two amazing kids, Max and Haley. After Haley was born, I finally felt the time was right to pursue that long-held dream and in July 2004, Alixandra Collections was born.

What began as a home-based business quickly grew into a small second-floor boutique in downtown Hinsdale. By October 2005, we opened our first main floor storefront. Over the past 20 years, SHOPALIX has expanded to 9 locations across 2 states, with a thriving e-commerce site and a dedicated team of over 50 fantastic employees. We have also relocated our corporate and buying offices to Scottsdale, AZ.
